Government:
A king ruled everything. They had the most power over anyone. The government was a monarchy. The king came up with all the laws. Most of the laws were pointed at the low class people. (Ezra B.)

Religion:
The greek gods were still worshipped throughout the hellenistic period. People believed in magic that was done by their gods. They had a religion that was a little Greek and a little Persian. People would go to oracles for advice and for the future to be told to them. The gods that were worshiped possessed a remarkable longevity. People would also worship heroes such as homer or mythical heroes. Landscapes would have monuments of nymphs, which were often located around springs. (Uri S.)

Economy:
In hellenistic Greece, Persia, and Egypt the diet of the people consisted of fish, domesticated animals(such as lamb), olives, raw vegetables, and fruits such as dates. The Hellenistic people mainly traded with the Chinese civilizations( through the Great Silk Road) and the Indians. The bartered goods included horses, gold, lumber, pearls, silk, slaves, and wine. The Greeks of this time period spread their idea of gold conaige as currency. (Akanksha N.)

Art:
The art was richly diverse. Most art works were sculptures. The materials that they use were stones and clay. They built great temples and amazing palaces. Most of the sculptures that they made were of people, and they were mostly of people not dressed. (Ezra B.)Centaur.jpg

Technology:
There are so many inventions and discoveries that we credit to the people of this civilization. Because of the food surplus, and Alexander the Great's skills to control this empire people had the time to research and be inventive. These people are mainly known for their knowledge in the fields of astronomy, medicine, and tactical warfare. Inventions such as lighthouses, catapults, showers, and pulleys are just a few of those that we still use to this day. Many advances in the medical field, with scientists such as Erasistratus and Herophilus who drew anatomy and figured out the function of the heart. In the field of astronomy, Plato had a well-drawn sketch of outer space and had come to know of the many things that seemed unnoted of at that time. In the subject of warfare, they had designed catapults and had strategic plans and outlines when dealing with wars and battles. (Akanksha N.)

Society:
The hellenistic period is the era after the death of Alexander the great died. During Alexander's life he made many policies which were used in the Hellenistic period. these policies were said to spread greek culture but some people think it was just so that Alexander could dominate even more than he already did. Peoples statuses depended a lot on their nationality. Greek immigrants would administrate the hellenistic states. The greek language became the universal language that people spoke when they were discussing philosophy and science.

Summary of your civilizations achievements:

The Hellenisitc Empire was a successful and thriving civilization due to the fact that they had a huge surplus. They had great oppurtunties for cultural diffusion through trade, helping them to reallocate their resources and mix up ideas, cultures, and philosophies. Strict government kept order in the province-states, and priveleged people led a prosperous life. Peasants also managed because of the arable land they used up. There was great knowledge of astronomy , philosophy, and medicine discovered and inventions that we still use to this day. Because people had more time on their hands they had time to create magnificent sculptures of gods and people. The people of this area had adopted the Greek culture and mythology and had a strong faith in it. All these factors added up to make this one of the most successful civilizations to the day.
